Exploring Fun Activities in Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale, often dubbed the "Venice of America," is a vibrant city that offers an array of exciting activities for both residents and visitors. Whether you're a beach lover, a foodie, or someone who enjoys exploring unique local attractions, Fort Lauderdale has something for everyone. Here are some fun things you can do in this beautiful city:

Enjoy the Stunning Beaches

The most popular beach, Fort Lauderdale Beach, is known for its clear turquoise waters, wide sandy areas, and a bustling promenade. You can rent jet skis, go parasailing, or simply lounge under the sun.

Specific to the Westin, beach access is easy via the skywalk where you can take advantage of resort amenities such as watersports, bicycle rentals, and beach chairs and toys. Relax on the beach and let the breeze wash over you.

Hop on a Water Taxi

Experience the city from a unique perspective by taking a ride on one of Fort Lauderdale's famous water taxis. These taxis operate on a hop-on-hop-off system, allowing you to explore various parts of the city via its extensive canal system. It's a great way to see luxurious waterfront homes, yachts, and key attractions. Plus, the water taxi guides often provide interesting facts and stories about the city.

Stop W is nearest the Westin down Seville Street.

How to earn

Drink Coins:

  • You get one at check-in with your badge
  • You can get one by doing an interview with Sam our videographer
  • Ask questions in a session
  • Talk to speakers

Prize Coins:

Talk to sponsors. You might just get one. These can be exchanged for prizes at the reception desk from 4pm-5pm each day while supplies last.

Special Coins:

Very rare and hard to get. If a speaker or sponsor sees you going to the next level on networking and making MMS fun for others, you get one. Exchange to enter raffle on the last night for great prizes.

It's all about networking! MMS is as much a networking event as it is a technical event.

Where is registration?
Sunday 12-5pm: in the expo area near the skyway
M-W 7-5pm: top floor entryway of expo in the foyer

Where is the welcome reception?
Party at the Pool! Open to everyone with a badge. See sched for details

Where are the cabanas?
We're calling them Seaside Sessions and they're in Bonnet I and II

Where is lunch?
Take the elevators behind the escalators up to the Sky Terrace on the 4th floor (outdoors)

Is there a closing party?
There is no formal closing party hosted by MMS (but there is a welcome reception Sunday evening). Keep an eye on twitter (#MMSFlamingo), as well as converse with attendees to find out where attendees (and staff) are congregating. Many sponsors throw some great parties too so be sure to visit their booth and ask!

Is there Wi-Fi in the breakout rooms?
Yes, but it can get saturated quickly if everyone opens their laptop/phone and starts working. Try to limit your use for this reason alone. You or your company is paying for you to come learn, not logon and work!

Is there a dress code?
You can dress casual, but don't be a slob. Always best to dress for success!
