Introducing Camping Sessions!

MMS 2018 Desert Edition introduced the very successful concept of cabana sessions which resulted in features checked into both ConfigMgr Tech Preview 1812 and ConfigMgr 1902. Now we're excited to bring that same idea to you at MMS 2019 at MOA in the form of Camping Sessions!

What: You've had a long day in the wilderness, and you need to take a little break. So, you go to your campsite and sit by the fire, enjoy some snacks and your favorite beverage, relax, and chat with old friends, and make new friends. You know how those conversations go... 'wouldn't it be great if...'.

Well, that's exactly what we offer with Camping Sessions (although we expect most of the chat to be tech-focused). You can book 15-minute private sessions with Microsoft or your favorite speakers and MVPs! This is your opportunity to spend individual time, ask a specific question or give specific feedback.

  • The Microsoft Tent will focus on UI design of the ConfigMgr console. Is there something that always irks you in the ConfigMgr console? This is the time to bring it up, in a ‘show and tell’ format. Bring your notebook or simply ask the Microsoft developers to open their console and repeat your steps on what isn’t working/making sense/could do better.
  • For the MVP/Speaker Tent, anything goes. Come in and ask questions, build relationships, and share war stories - we just look forward to you coming in and talking tech! Have you been a little too scared to ask something in front of others, even at our small MMS sessions? This is your chance!

How: Camping sessions will run at the same time as other sessions. The week prior to MMS, you’ll receive information on how to reserve your time slot. Please limit your registration to no more than one session in the Microsoft tent and one session in the MVP/Speaker tent (we’ll send daily updates to let you know if sessions are still available).

FAQs:

I already have a session slotted – do I just walk out on it?
In short, yes! Speakers are fully aware this will happen. Perhaps sit in the back if you plan to also attend a camping session. When done, just come right back. Although it’s not great to miss 20 minutes of a session, we think it’ll be worth your time to have that private 1:1 connection to speakers and Microsoft.
Must I wait until camping session time to connect?
No way! MMS is known for how well our speakers value community, and they want to talk to you as much as you want to talk to them.
Do I only get 15 minutes?

That’s the plan. We want to enable lots of attendees to give lots of feedback, so you get 15 minutes. Our speakers will be around for all of MMS MOA, so don’t just wait for these 15 minutes – get to know them both before and after. Hot tip: meet as many as you can during the welcome reception – it's a great way to get the week started and maximize networking time.

Can I hang out all day in the tents?
Well, we really want you to attend sessions, and as mentioned above, we want to give all attendees time to interact with MVPs and MS alike. Feel free to ask the speakers in the tents, but please be respectful of other attendee’s allotted times so they can have their 15 minutes too.
